Outside of the resort, the whole region is traditionally Spanish and English is generally not spoken in most shops, restaurants and supermarkets.

Fuente Alamo is a growing town with a population of a few thousand people. The region has soil rich in minerals, which combined with the climate, has resulted in food cultivation being a major source of economic growth and employment.

If you like the beach, Mazarron is the place for you. Located 20 miles (40 mins) away to the south west of HDA, Mazarron is a town with a marina and long sandy beaches which shelve gently into warm Mediterranean waters. In high season, the beaches are very busy with thousands of holiday makers.
